INSPIRATION FROM 'NAMASTE'

"You are a multidimensional being made up of many realms of existence. You have a physical body, a subtle body – which includes your mind and emotions – and a causal body encompassing your soul, the collective soul, and the infinite field of spirit. Last month, we explored your bodymind and the inseparable link between your physical and emotional being. This edition of Namasté celebrates Spirit and the breadth of its expanse, from the most personal to the universal.
At your very core you are stillness and silence – pure unbounded consciousness. Yet as a multidimensional being, your DNA is wrapped in a layer of food known as flesh; your mind is filled with emotions, beliefs, intellect, and conditioning; and your soul, containing your unique desires and memories, is your personal connection to the divine flow of the cosmos. Since EVERYTHING is Spirit, these dimensions of yourself are all aspects of the same consciousness, wearing different disguises.
At the moment of your birth, you are pure, perfect, whole, enlightened . . . it is the first instant that the nonlocal, unmanifest aspect of your being breaches the realm of form, physicality, time, space, and individuality. From that moment on, however, you start to forget your spiritual nature. Throughout your life, you accumulate layers of social conditioning, physical and emotional experiences, relationships, and the impressions of everything you see, hear, smell, taste, and touch. These layers can mask your your true essence – which is divine stillness and silence.

This realm of stillness and silence is infinite. It is pure consciousness pregnant with possibilities. It exists within you and outside of you. It exists in every breath you take and in the space between every thought. Each time you access this realm of pure potentiality and tap into its flow – even for a few seconds – you experience a small transformation. You shift from a reflexive state of reactivity into a higher state of consciousness known as restful awareness.
The key to integrating this state of consciousness into your daily waking state is the practice of meditation. Millions of people around the world meditate every day and enter the realm of stillness and silence known as the “gap.” More important, during the rest of their day, when they are back here interacting with the rest of us – each breath they take, each thought they think, and each beat of their heart contains a tiny piece of that stillness and silence. This thimble-full of pure potentiality flows into their words . . . their actions . . . their perspective of life, love, being, and existence. The result is a deeper appreciation and a profound awareness of the divine quality of existence.
While there are many ways of entering the gap, meditation is an easy and effective method that helps you effortlessly disconnect from the activity of thoughts, sounds, and sensations that you experience in the physical realm.
Whether you practice Zen, mindfulness, vipassana,
Primordial Sound Meditation or any of the many techniques for accessing stillness and silence, Namasté invites you to join us in celebrating the infinite possibilities that meditation brings into our lives and into the world. "

A STORY WE WEAVE

"Life is a story we weave together from the thoughts, feelings, and emotions we experience each moment. Yet we live the majority of our life in the memories of our past and the expectations of the future. Rarely do we live in the purity of the present. These past memories and future expectations that we embrace throughout the course of our lives are what breed the stresses we feel in each day. In fact, the average person is a bundle of conditioned reflexes and nerves which is constantly triggered by situations and circumstances. Often the circumstances are simply the ups and downs of living each day. But there are times in our lives when the stresses, pressures, disappointments, and anxieties can become overwhelming." NAMASTE

The highest aim of any spiritual path is surrender. Although you may associate the word surrender with defeat or weakness, it is the most powerful spiritual action, offering you infinite freedom and possibilities. Surrender is trusting that God, the Universe or a higher intelligence can accomplish anything – even when you can’t foresee the outcome of a situation. Keep Reading

EQUINOX

"The Sun goes into Aries on the Equinox and the Moon goes into Libra Friday morning.
Aries is all about finding our own identity, passion and purpose in life. It's where the spark of life ignites for each of us, where we are willing to take risks, to begin something new.

Like the Fool in the Tarot, we have to trust blindly to our instinct for LIFE.
Libra is about what worth our purpose holds for others. How are we received? Who are our partners in this journey through Life?

Libra wants to balance Self and Other, with fairness and justice. How do we take other people into consideration when we have goals to achieve? Desires to manifest? Look at our leaders – Aries is all about leadership – and see how they're doing regarding relationships, fairness, justice and honor. Is their passion and purpose to serve themselves or to serve the people? Don't we need a new vision of leadership?

Not only in our elected officials, but in ourselves?
Aries also asks us to consider how we see ourselves. Where do we find our sense of Self? "

TIMES OF POWERFUL TRANSITION

Thursday, March 20th, is the day of the equinox, and one day later, this month’s full moon.
On Thursday, the sun stands directly overhead at noon at Earth’s equator. This event marks the March equinox, first day of spring or autumn depending on your location on Earth’s globe.
One day later, on Friday, there’s a full moon. This full moon gives people in the northern hemisphere their first full moon of spring. And south of the equator, this is the first full moon of autumn. This is the full moon that sets the date of Easter and Passover.

ASK BELIEVE RECEIVE

Ask, Believe, Receive - just three simple steps to create what you want. However, very often the second step, believe, can be the most difficult one. And yet it is the greatest step you will ever take. When you master believing, you have mastered your life.
To master believing, all you have to do is tip the balance of your thoughts, words, and actions, from 'not believing' to believing. The ONLY thing that can ever get in the way of manifesting what you want, is having more thoughts of 'not believing', speaking more words of 'not believing', and taking more actions of 'not believing', than you are of believing. Base the majority of your thoughts, words, and actions in believing, and the law of attraction must obey you.
Believing contains no doubt. Believing does not waiver. Believing is absolute faith. Believing remains steadfast despite what is happening in the outside world.

TRIPHALA

One of the most popular preparations of Ayurveda is Triphala, which is renowned for its many health benefits. These include a gentle cleaning effect on the digestive tract and reduction of toxins. Triphala may be used to help keep the bowls regular, and besides nourishing mind and body, overall vitality and longevity, it improves eye-sight and skin tissue. To request our new Triphala booklet, please call 01695 51015

There is a saying in India...
... that if a vaidya (Ayurvedic expert) fully knows how to use Triphala he can rectify any imbalance. Triphala is highly revered in Ayurveda and is available from Maharishi Ayurveda as Triphala with Rose.

It is also used as an ingredient in several of our other preparations. Triphala means "three fruits" - the three fruits being Haritaki, Amalaki and Bibhitaki. When combined as Triphala, they form a very powerful Rasayana. A Rasayana is a highly intelligent herbal combination that enlivens the inner intelligence of mind and body from a fundamental level and thereby promotes rejuvenation and long life.

Besides nourishing the mind and body and promoting longevity, Triphala has many specific effects. It is particularly rejuvenating for the digestive tract, and is a Rasayana for the eyes and the skin. When combined with Rose petals (Rosa centifolia) many of these benefits are enhanced.

One of the principle actions of Triphala is that it balances Apana Vata, the subdosha of Vata that governs the colon, lower abdomen, menstrual flow and elimination. It is a mild laxative, and for that reason it is excellent for clearing toxins from the digestive system.

Deep cleansing
Because it is mild in its action, you can take Triphala safely for long periods of time, and then it has a deeply purifying effect. It goes ‘deeper’ into the physiology and releases the toxins at a much deeper level.

This can be understood in terms of the seven main tissues (dhatus) recognised by Ayurveda. Ayurveda says that these tissues are formed in the following sequence - Rasa (the nutrient fluid derived from food), Rakta (blood), Mamsa (muscle), Meda (fat), Asthi (bone), Majja (bone marrow) and lastly Shukra (reproductive fluid). When taken regularly Triphala cleanses toxins in the first four tissues, up to and including Meda, the fat tissue. You can see that this is a much deeper effect than just cleansing the bowel. Because it detoxifies the blood, muscle and fat tissues, Triphala is excellent for maintaining the health of the skin. And because it removes ama from the fat tissue, Triphala also helps to keep cholesterol in balance.

Maintaining inner intelligence
Triphala enhances all thirteen agnis, the digestive fires or transformational processes, especially the panchagni, the main digestive fire in the stomach. The 13 agnis include the seven dhatuagnis that each transform one tissue into the next one in the sequence mentioned above. It is in the gaps between the tissues that the intelligence of nature particularly operates, and if there is any dullness in these gaps Triphala helps to remove it. That is what makes it a great Rasayana.

Triphala has two of the three major herbs contained in Maharishi Amrit Kalash, which is the most highly refined and rejuvenating Rasayana of all. If taken regularly Triphala is also a powerful anti-aging Rasayana. In addition it pacifies both Kapha and Pitta as well as purifying the urinary system.

Modern research confirms the traditional knowledge about Triphala in that studies have shown that it does maintain the integrity of DNA, a basic expression of the body’s intelligence, when DNA is exposed to mutagens and radiation.

STRESS/ESSENCES

Helpful Herbs Nature provides many herbs to relax and revitalise the nervous system. They benefit from having no addictive qualities or unwanted side effects, working gently with your body to restore balance. They continue to work no matter how long you use them.
Taking these herbs in a liquid form really increases their effect when you are stressed, as they go straight into your system without your digestion doing any work.

Avena sativa (oats)

Oats, full of vitamin B and calming constituents, gently reduce physical and emotional pressure, while nourishing the nervous system. Avena sativa’s effects build up gradually and it can be taken long term. It is ideal for situations such as exams, where the stress is on-going. It also works with hyperactive or over-stressed children.
Passiflora Complex

Passiflora combined with Avena sativa is slightly stronger in its effect, relaxing muscle tension and relieving anxiety.
It has a calming effect if you constantly feel nervy and wound-up. It also helps to improve sleep quality and can be taken short or long term, alongside other medication.
If you are taking tranquillisers, sedatives or antidepressants, it isn’t sensible to take herbs that have similar effects as well. If you feel your medication isn’t working, go back to your doctor to discuss changing or coming off it, and try herbal remedies instead.
Valerian

For faster, more targeted action, use Valerian. It reduces muscle spasm and has an impressively sedating effect on mind and body. Perfect for short term stress requiring a fast acting remedy with no side effects. Don’t take Valerian alongside other sedative medication.
Hypericum Hypericum

has a positive effect on mild depression and low mood. Combined with Hops and Lemon Balm it also tackles the underlying anxiety that can trigger depression.
Nervous anxiety and tension, linked to mild depression, will improve within one to three weeks with Hypericum Complex. This is a great remedy if you are struggling with a multitude of menopausal symptoms or suffering from SAD syndrome.
Hypericum is not suitable to be taken with other medication.
Ginsavena

This mixture of Avena sativa and Siberian Ginseng lifts energy levels whilst soothing frazzled nerves, easily dealing with fatigue whilst calming at the same time.
Increase its effectiveness by avoiding caffeine and drinking plenty of water.
Do not take Ginsavena for longer than three months, and avoid it if you are on hormonal or heart medication, or are diabetic, epileptic or schizophrenic.
Flower Essences

Several Flower Essences can help with stress. They work by balancing the emotions and take effect almost immediately with no contraindications or side effects. They are ideal for children. Choose from:
Relaxation Essence

for those stressed and anxious

Mood Essence

for those depressed and low

Vitality Essence

for those fatigued and unmotivated.
These remedies can be taken alongside herbal remedies.

MICRONUTRIENTS, NUTRITION & AYURVEDA

Micronutrients, Nutrition and Ayurveda
With thanks to Dr Greg Watras

Eminent health scientist Bruce Ames reported that 40 micronutrients are essential for a balanced diet to maintain health, and that many chronic diseases arise as a result of an incomplete diet. We asked Maharishi Ayurveda practitioner Dr Greg Watras about Ayurveda and nutrition.

What does Maharishi Ayurveda recommend to obtain essential nutrients?"To make sure you have enough micronutrients be sure to have a variety of different foods in your diet, not always to keep to the same cereal, the same vegetables or the same proteins, but eat different ones from day to day."

AYURVEDIC PERSPECTIVE

Dr Donn Brennan
"In April, we are now in Kapha season, but we are now definitely into Spring and this is the time for spring cleaning. Because Kapha has predominated in our bodies over the last two or three months, it now becomes more liquid and fluid in the body and more easy to move around the body.

The toxins which gather in our tissues when we go out of balance are of a Kapha nature. So because the Kapha is more fluid, it’s most easy at this time of the year to eliminate these toxins from our tissues. So how are you going to spring clean your body if it’s accumulated toxins?"

SEA PICS

The Sea has partied with the streets! reminding us of her mighty power and action.

PRIMORDIAL SEAS

High tides dancing with strong winds have created some awesome seas down in Cornwall.
Last evening the high tides brought the seas rushing into the side streets of Perranporth. The sea benches were covered and the car park became an extended ocean. It was amazingly primordial and sea rushed along the little paths from the town to the beach.
The fire engines had to pump out the village pub! and the youngsters were maniacally daring the waves and the white foam.
In an early evening dusk the grass in front of the coastal hotel was white with foam.
This morning the streets were full of sand and seaweed.
Seemed like the whole local population of perranporth came out last evening to be with the sea.
There was something strangely sacred about this force that rushed its way into the small streets.
Blessingly no one had any major damage - although I understand some parts of cornwall did.
I will post some other pics in a bit. x

WORDS TO FEEL INTO

"If you should take the human heart and listen to it, it would be like listening to a seashell; you would hear in it the hollow murmur of the infinite ocean to which it belongs, from which it draws its profoundest inspiration, and for which it yearns.”– Edwin Chapin
"How can it enter into the thoughts of man, that the soul, which is capable of such immense perfections, and of receiving new improvements to all eternity, shall fall away into nothing almost as soon as it is created?"– Joseph Addison

WISDOM OF LIVE FOODS

http://www.paulnison.com/ -

"Emotional and Spiritual Growth
To put any process into action, you need more than just the physical information: You need emotional support and mental grounding, both of which begin with knowledge.

Knowledge gives you the foundation to proceed. Forget what you think you know about health, and find the truth that will support health. Don’t settle for what you want to hear.
When you learn the correct information, make sure you understand it completely, because knowledge without understanding is virtually useless. Once you have knowledge and understanding, you will have wisdom:

Knowledge + Understanding = Wisdom

With wisdom, it’s easy to then put your plan into action. So many health seekers fail at achieving their goals because they lack the wisdom to get through the hard times. Wisdom helps establish your correct pace: not to get too far ahead of yourself, or to go too fast. My advice is not to go beyond your understanding of health. Go at your own pace. If you get ahead of yourself, you’re going to set yourself up for failure.
How can you know what your optimal pace is? It’s very simple: If you’re not seeing results, you’re going too slow, and if you’re not enjoying the changes, you’re going too fast. When you begin this diet with the understanding of why you’re on it, you should keep at the right pace. Only those who rush into doing something before knowing why or how, will run into problems. Let’s face it: We will all have moments of struggle in changing our way of eating and our way of living due to our health challenges. But wisdom will keep us strong and carry us past those moments.
Once your plan is in action and you see that it’s working, you will feel joy, and then it all becomes easier. It might take some time to get there–perhaps even longer for some–but here is where life becomes fun. Amazingly, you can use this information not just for diet and health. You can apply it to every aspect of life. If you have wisdom, you will have joy, and it’s the joy that helps you accomplish two keys to success at anything in life: If you have joy, you have efficiency and consistency.
How you do anything is how you do everything. Efficiency is wisdom in motion. The key to wisdom is to be so efficient that you can get the most results out of the least work. So many people today are so inefficient: They do the most work to get the least results. We need to turn that around. When everything is going the right way and at the right pace, we can stop looking for answers and start enjoying life.
So many people fail today because they’re never satisfied; they’re always looking for new ways to do things. They go back and forth too much. Having an open mind is so important, and there is nothing wrong with trying new things to see if they’ll work. But you must give what you’re doing a chance. You have to do something consistently to see if it will give you the results you desire. If you jump from thing to thing, you will not come up with the answers you’re looking for. So efficiency will lead to consistency.

Efficiency + Consistency = Confidence

Confidence is the groundwork for enthusiasm. When it comes to overcoming your shortfalls and thriving, enthusiasm makes the difference. Remember: Confidence does not mean pride. Confidence means you have a well-grounded understanding, patience to wait for the answers, but a willingness to admit when you are wrong. All of this leads to more knowledge.
If you’re not happy with your results, you must change their cause. If you keep doing the same things, you will continue to cause the same outcomes. You must change what you’re doing to get new results.
Building a personal relationship with our Creator helps me overcome my addictions and enjoy emotional peace. Consistent prayer enables me to find the answers I need to keep going forward. For more information about building health through spirituality, please read my book, Health According to the Scriptures; Experience the Joy of Health According to Our Creator." - Paul Nison.
